Literature Assignment - Civil Disobedience
Thoreau manages to explain the moral need for civil disobedience through illustrating the actual role of the government in society and what it considers of the citizens who follow it as compared to those who follow their consciences. To prove his point furthermore, Thoreau uses several methods including analogies and examples.
As for justifying his claim, Thoreau does so by clarifying that a "true man" should follow his nature in what he does and fight against what he thinks is unjust if he wishes his society to change for the better.
